Housing Grants for Disabled Veterans
If you are a disabled veteran in the Woodlands, Texas area, you may qualify for a VA housing grant for home remodeling. The grant is made available to those with certain permanent and total service-related disabilities for remodeling their homes or constructing an adapted home.
DWR Construction is a Woodlands remodeling company who works with local servicemen and women to remodel their homes under this VA housing grant. It isn't easy to find construction companies who work with programs such as this due to the paperwork, time involved, and more stringent construction requirements.
We are proud to serve those who have bravely served and protected our freedoms. At DWR Construction, we sincerely care about the disabled veterans who need to modify their homes for a better quality of life. We are so pleased that the grants are available to make modifications to your home so you can remain independent.
There are two VA housing grants available, the SAH grant and the SHA grant, which are described below. Please feel free to call us with any questions about our services. You can find specific information about qualifying and applying for the grants at http://www.benefits.va.gov/homeloans/adaptedhousing.asp

About The Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) Grant
There are specific qualification requirements under both grant types. Under this grant type, remodeling can be done on an existing home if is suitable for specially adapted housing. The grant can also be used to construct a specially adapted home on land to be acquired, or on land already owned if it is suitable for specially adapted housing. The SHA grant helps veterans adapt an existing home that they own or family member of a veteran owns when the veteran also lives there permanently. It is also available to veterans or family members to adapt a home the veteran will permanently live in.
