Questions you should ask any contractor you’re about to use!
Do they accept credit cards?
If a contractor doesn’t accept credit cards, it most likely is because of their background. Remember: as a customer, you have 6 months to deny any charges to your credit card.
Do they offer financing through a bank?
Banks often will not offer financing to contractors if their work doesn’t have a history of being respectable.
Are they a member of the Better Business Bureau?
If not, you’ll want to find out why. Some contractors may have a nefarious past if they are not BBB Certified.
Are they a member of any associations?
- The National Association of the Remodeling Industry?
- The Greater Houston Business Association?
- The National Kitchen and Bath Association?
Remodeling contractors who are members of associations like these have to maintain certain industry standards and can be considered more qualified and/or trustworthy.
Are they a corporation?
And if they are, are they in good standing with the Corporation Commission?
Do they have Design Consultants on staff to help you pick out your selections and help with projects that require special attention?
The company should be able to provide you with full service, and that includes assisting with the design of your remodel and helping you select products and fixtures for the project.
